Arlington, VA —The Council on Foundations elected five new members and re-elected four current members to its board of directors on April 12, during the Council on Foundations 2011 Annual Conference in Philadelphia. In addition, in its meeting later that day, the Council board approved the slate of board officers.
“The newly elected board members represent the diversity of philanthropic organizations. They hail from every region of the nation, from our largest cities to rural America. The board officers, all of whom are returning, bring a deep understanding of the traditions and core mission of the Council. They will continue to provide the vision and direction needed to ensure members receive the services to fulfill their objectives. Over the next year, their leadership will strengthen the Council’s role in the foundation community,” said Steve Gunderson, president and CEO of the Council.
New board members elected to serve a three-year term are Antonia Hernández, president and CEO, California Community Foundation; Daniel J. Lee, executive director, Levi Strauss Foundation; Joshua Mintz, vice president and general counsel, John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation; Sherry Elise Ristau, president and CEO, Southwest Initiative Foundation; and Marta L. Tellado, vice president for communications, Ford Foundation.
Current board members re-elected for a three-year term are David Etzwiler, former executive director and advisor, Medtronic Foundation; William Ginsberg, president and CEO, The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven; Carol Larson, president and CEO, The David and Lucile Packard Foundation; and Sherry Magill, president, Jessie Ball duPont Fund.
The following board members were appointed as board officers:
Vice Chair: Kevin Murphy, president, Berks County Community Foundation
Treasurer: Will Ginsberg, president and CEO, The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven
Secretary: Sherece West, president and CEO, Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation
Carol Larson, president and CEO, The David and Lucile Packard Foundation, is serving the second year of her two-year term as board chair.
