Ask Your Senators to Help Preserve the Charitable Deduction

Tuesday, December 3, 2013 - 3:15 pm

On November 20, in conjunction with the Charitable Giving Coalition’sProtect Giving Day,” Senators John Thune (R-SD) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) issued a letter in full support of the charitable deduction. This letter is a perfect example of the growing bipartisan support for preserving the full value of the charitable deduction.

Currently, Senators Thune and Wyden are circulating the letter among their colleagues to encourage more senators to sign on and voice their support for the charitable deduction. It will be delivered to Senate Finance Committee Chair Max Baucus (D-MT) and Ranking Member Orrin Hatch (R-UT) after December 12th. Senators Baucus and Hatch and the other members of the Senate Finance Committee will soon be making critical tax reform decisions that will impact the charitable and philanthropic sector, and now is the time to urge them to preserve the charitable deduction.

We are asking that you take just two minutes out of your busy day to send a message to your senators and ask them to sign the Thune-Wyden letter. We have written all the language you need, you just need to fill out your name and address.
