Calvin Harris serves as Marketing and Communications Manager for the Council on Foundations. In this role, Calvin is responsible for overseeing media relations, event marketing, and communication strategies.
Prior to joining The Council, Calvin served as a Regional Press Secretary for StudentsFirst, a national education reform group founded by former Washington D.C. Public Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee. In this capacity he managed the day-to-day press operations across several states, developing and implementing communication plans to support StudentsFirst’s legislative and advocacy work.
Before joining StudentsFirst, Calvin worked in the public affairs practice of SKDKnickerbocker, a leading strategic communications firm based in Washington, DC. In addition, Calvin held stints with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and Dewey Square Group, where he developed a wide range of skill sets essential for tackling communication challenges.
Calvin is a graduate of Morehouse College, where he was selected for the Bonner Scholars Program. Calvin was also a PPIA Fellow in the Ford School at University of Michigan, and received a Masters of Public Policy from the Heller School at Brandeis University.
Calvin Harris - not to be confused with the famous Scottish DJ Calvin Harris - is a native of St. Louis. And like most St. Louisians, he is obsessed with his high school (CBC), toasted ravioli, and Cardinal Baseball. Calvin frequents Bass Pro Shops in his spare time and has been known to get emotional during Anheuser-Busch commercials.
You should contact Calvin with any press inquiries and about communications and marketing strategies.
