Grappling with how to make the case to support immigrant-related work within your foundation? Wondering how other funders are connecting immigration issues—including implementation of the new executive actions—to diverse grantmaking priorities, from education and health to economic opportunity and children, youth, and families? Join this timely webinar to:

  • Hear about new research from the FrameWorks Institute on public understanding of immigration issues, and learn about an empirically-based framework developed to foster more productive conversation on this topic.
  • Engage in conversation with other funders about messaging, talking points, and other communication strategies that have proven effective in making the case for immigrant-related grantmaking in different contexts.
  • Take away practical strategies for approaching foundation leadership on these issues—and for using communications to enhance the impact of funding initiatives in this dynamic field.

Background: On November 20, 2014, President Obama announced a new policy that could allow nearly five million undocumented immigrants, mostly parents of U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents, to apply for temporary work permits and reprieve from deportation. The President’s Immigration Accountability Executive Actions also expands eligibility for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), among other provisions. This is the third program in a webinar series organized by Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR) to highlight the implications of the executive actions for philanthropy.
