Philanthropy's Role in Linking Social and Personal Transformation

Last Update: Thu, December 11, 2008
Description
Inspired by Martin Luther King, Jr.’s philosophy of building the “beloved community,” a growing number of foundations in the United States are supporting work that links social and personal transformation by developing a more strategic approach to their grantmaking, governance, and human resources functions. This session will introduce a new trend in social change work, which integrates personal development with organizational effectiveness and organizing strategies in a dynamic and innovative way. Hear from funders who are making significant investments in this work and practitioners who have increased the impact of their work as a result of these approaches. As business experts, Peter Senge and Daniel Goleman transformed the way people think about business, experts using similar personal technologies are transforming the nonprofit sector.
