| Increasingly, public education advocates are focusing on how to harness the $50+ billion invested annually in school buildings to improve academic success. Simultaneously, there is growing interest in using these investments to promote community revitalization, environmental sustainability, and neighborhood “walkability”. This session will consider efforts to build collaborations among education, smart growth, urban planning, and environmental leaders, and the possibilities and tensions that may emerge in cross-sector collaborations. In addition, nonprofit advocates and education, smart growth, and environmental funders will reflect on how they came to support this work. | |
