| There are persistent racial disparities in nearly every issue area in the United States, from education to the housing market. Yet, just talking about race is a huge challenge. Structural racism—the role that historical and contemporary public policies, institutional practices, and cultural representations play in perpetuating disparities—is one way to look at the compounding effects of policies and actions that aren’t as race-neutral as they appear. At this session, you’ll learn about a framework to deepen your understanding of structural racism and hear how two community foundations (one based in the North and the other in the South) are addressing race in their communities. | |
