Building Philanthropy BRIC by BRIC

Last Update: Thu, December 11, 2008
Description
Brazil, Russia, India, and China (BRIC) represent the largest emerging economies in the world. According to the World Bank, collectively, these countries are home to 43% of the world’s population. Over the next four decades, the BRIC countries are projected to dominate the global economy and continue to exert significant geopolitical influence. While each country has a rapidly growing philanthropic sector, their socioeconomic, political, and cultural contexts differ significantly. This session will provide an understanding of the varied directions philanthropy, social investment, and social justice movements are taking in these countries and how these issues will play a role in shaping each country’s future.
