Helping Nonprofits Through Economic Tough Times

Last Update: Thu, December 11, 2008
Description
Given the weak economy, many foundations have been forced to think creatively about how best to support grantees and the communities they serve. This session will use case studies to illustrate funding strategies and engage participants in dialogue around the following questions: How are foundations moving dollars into communities most affected by the economic downturn? How can foundations use general operating or capacity building support to position nonprofits to become more financially savvy ? What role can intermediaries play in sustaining the nonprofit system? If foundations decide to scale back or end giving in a particular area, what responsibility should they have in helping nonprofits continue their work?
