New Technologies for Grassroots Community Empowerment

Last Update: Thu, December 11, 2008
Description
This session explores the ways in which the foundation community is investing in and leading the charge for developing technologies that democratize information and thereby allow citizens to increase their level of authentic engagement in decision making. The panelists highlight international, national, and local Atlanta examples of how mobile and mapping technologies are being used in innovative ways. The focus for both themes—mapping and mobile—is how individuals and groups at the grassroots level are using the technologies and the data they generate to work toward community change.
