When Program and Communications are Integrated, Good Things Happen for Foundations

Last Update: Thu, December 11, 2008
Description
When communication strategies are integrated with program work, a foundation’s work comes to life. This session will look at two examples of this phenomenon. The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation will describe a marketing plan it has been using to attract increasing numbers of submissions to its three-year-old News Challenge—an initiative that supports the use of new media to meet the information needs of communities. And the California Wellness Foundation will discuss how a group of foundations and news media organizations partnered in a campaign to prompt city officials to address the needs of homeless youth living in downtown Los Angeles.
