Climate Justice: Understanding the Effects of Global Warming on Marginalized Communities

Last Update: Thu, December 11, 2008
Description
This session will bring together the philanthropic community and indigenous and immigrant rights leaders to discuss ways to broaden the climate movement to include diverse voices. The panelists will focus on economic and social justice issues and link to new drivers for climate solutions. These leaders will offer a fresh perspective and provoke new thinking among the grantmaking community. By building on efforts already occurring in the United States and around the world, this interactive session will tackle the nuts and bolts of working effectively at the intersection of all the important issues: racial justice, indigenous rights, environmental protection, economic opportunity, social movement building, and democracy. This session is presented by the Environmental Grantmakers Association, in partnership with International Funders for Indigenous Peoples.
