Thirsting for Solutions: Opportunities for Philanthropy in the Water Sector

Last Update: Thu, December 11, 2008
Description
Despite decades of investment in water quality, much of the developing world still lacks the bare minimum of water and sanitation required to live healthy and productive lives. More than one billion people live without access to safe water and 2.6 billion people do not have access to basic sanitation. This session will explore the evolving role of foundations, multilateral coordinating organizations, and non-governmental organizations in the international water sector. We’ll discuss the obstacles, opportunities, advantages, and disadvantages of focusing on specific regions as a method of achieving long-term goals.
