CANCELLED: From Leader to Organization: Moving the Next Gen Discussion Beyond People to Organizations

Last Update: Thu, December 11, 2008
Description
As philanthropy has become enthralled with the notion of next-generation leadership, the response has been the continued investment in traditional leadership programs. The heightened focus on individuals has distracted from an organization’s ability to welcome and retain new forms of leadership. In many cases, organizations have brought in a next-generation leader, thinking that they are taking a sufficient step to move their organization forward. But without reorienting the organizational culture and redefining leadership, many next generation leaders report they find themselves in a “culture war” within their organization. This session explores the role of organizational transformation as we move from next-generation individuals to next-generation organizations, as well as the role leadership development programs—such as fellowships—play in preparing next-generation leaders.
