Last year, I attended an event hosted by the New England Impact Investing Initiative (NEIII) for a conversation with Michael McCreless, Senior Director of Strategy and Impact, at Root Capital. Happy New Year! I am following news out of Davos and reading about new partnerships on critical issues, like MasterCard’s leadership to announce a new partnership on refugees and the new $50 million partnership of companies and foundations, including UBS, to scale technology to improve last-mile healthcare globally. As 2017 comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on how much I’ve learned from you this year. When I transitioned to the role of Director of Community Philanthropy in 2016, from running a community foundation in Indiana, it was extremely important to me that I spoke to community foundation leaders about the present and future needs of our field. My goal was to use what I learned to create a focused learning journey and connections to topics and issues that are important to you.

It's insightful to learn how similar your needs and interests are to one another. Many of you expressed interest in learning strategies for cross-sector collaboration and performance management. You wanted to learn more about how the federal budget cuts were going to impact your grantmaking and the communities you serve.
