Following recent discussions around grantmaking in China and Mexico, the Council on Foundations will host a members-only conversation on September 2nd about the changing operating environments for civil society and funders in India and Russia.

Join us for a conversation with General Counsel representatives of funders who have faced recent challenges with grantmaking in Russia and India – Josh Mintz from MacArthur and Ken Monteiro from the Ford Foundation. Speakers will discuss how they strategically analyze the changing regulatory space and work with staff, grantees, and governments to determine how best to continue their operations. Council staff will also discuss the larger context behind the political situation in both countries and highlight how this trend might play out in other regions globally. (Note - additional speakers TBC)

We look forward to hearing from COF members during the Q&A about any other countries of concern for similar targeting of funders and foundation strategies for working within rapidly changing environments like these.
