Continuing this fall, the Council on Foundations is launching its fourth quarter of the webinar series focused on legal issues facing foundations. This month is focused on community foundations and preparing for year-end.
Community Foundation Week (#CFWeek) is a prime opportunity to highlight the critical role of community philanthropy in supporting a thriving local community.
Leaders from the higher education, philanthropic and corporate sectors came together for a unique convening designed to explore the impact of implicit bias on leadership and operational excellence.
A well-trained staff and an informed board are critical to the success of community foundations in our fast-changing world. This two-day course helps new and experienced foundation stakeholders build the essential skills they need to balance governance and management.
Every year, billions of dollars are distributed in response to disasters and humanitarian crises. How much of this comes from foundations? What are other sources of funding? How much funding addresses long-term recovery and disaster risk reduction, in addition to emergency response and immediate relief?
This monthly call is for community foundations staff to connect with the National Standards staff and to ask questions related to the National Standards program.
For philanthropy, the year 2017 has brought a number of issues to the forefront: tax reform has moved to center stage on Capitol Hill; proposals for massive government budget cuts have turned eyes towards philanthropy to fill the gap; and recent incidents like Charlottesville, Va. and the Texas flooding have reminded the sector once again that communities need philanthropy’s engagement now more than ever before. In the final Council Member Update for 2017, Council on Foundations president and CEO Vikki Spruill will discuss the year’s landscape, the challenges and opportunities seen by philanthropy and the initiatives the Council has on the horizon to amplify and strengthen the work of the sector. She will be joined on the call by senior vice president for government relations, Hadar Susskind, who will speak to the Council’s efforts to advocate on behalf of the sector, as he provides a policy update around the various tax reform efforts underway.
This webinar will update Council members on the status of the President's 2018 Federal Budget, Congressional appropriations actions to date, and what the likely impacts will be on nonprofits and the social safety net as Congress continues its effort to arrive at a final budget.
The Council on Foundations is pleased to host an informational call to share more information about this program for funders with a representative from NTIA’s BroadbandUSA program, which will be offering technical assistance to the ConnectHome communities.
Join a webinar with leaders of the community foundations and disaster response experts to hear how they're doing, what they know so far, and what kind of support is most helpful at this stage of the emergency.
