The Council and HUD are seeking nominations from charitable foundations working with the public sector to improve the neighborhoods and quality of life for low- and moderate-income American for the 2017 HUD Secretary’s Awards for Public-Philanthropic Partnerships. The winners of these prestigious HUD Secretary’s Awards will be presented at the Council’s 2017 Annual Conference in Dallas, Texas, in April.

The Council on Foundations has announced the names of the 24 promising philanthropic leaders have been selected to participate in the fourth Career Pathways Program. This intensive, year-long leadership development program is designed to foster diverse talent and excellence among the philanthropic sector's senior executives.

Council on Foundations Vice President for Content Design Jesse Salazar will receive the 2016 Milestones in Mentoring Young Professional Award from the Plank Center for Leadership in Public Relations at the University Alabama. This award recognizes young professionals in public relations "who are up-and-coming leaders who are already paying it forward."

This letter provides input regarding forthcoming regulations on DAFs, specifically (1) the termination of private foundations into DAFs, and (2) whether recipients of grants from DAFs may treat such grants as public support to qualify for public charity status. These are important issues to our members, and we urge the Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service to proceed thoughtfully when drafting regulations.
