Passionate about education and creating learning and socially rich meeting environments, Melanie Freeman is a positive force who helps to drive change. She enables members to respond to some of their greatest challenges and helps develop leaders for today and the future. Before coming to the Council on Foundations, Melanie was responsible for offering continuous learning opportunities to members of an association in Maryland. She oversaw large and small conferences and developed content for in-person and web-based training. Prior to working with the non-profit, she worked as a consultant with emphasis on talent development and performance.

While growing up, Melanie followed in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother by studying classical ballet and eventually venturing into modern and jazz dance. Currently, she is learning how to salsa.

Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Hampton University and a graduate certificate in Business Administration from Strayer University. Giving back to her hometown while helping students succeed, Melanie volunteers for City Year Washington, DC.
