One hundred years ago, Frederick Goff launched the world’s first community foundation in Cleveland, unleashing the power of place-based giving. Since then, the Cleveland Foundation has provided the world with an example of how community collaboration might unite local resources around important priorities.
For the first time, one organization pulled together the people of a community – diverse in their aspirations and means – to pursue a shared vision of a remarkable future. This transformative idea spread around the world, inspiring millions to take action and improve their communities.
This fall, the Council on Foundations invites you to Cleveland, Ohio as we mark the culmination of the first 100 years of service and leadership by community foundations.
Join us to honor the community foundation centennial with our colleagues at The Cleveland Foundation, and help us forge the way forward.
