From Global Goals to Local Impact

How Philanthropy Can Help Achieve the
U.N. Sustainable Development Goals in the U.S.

As implementation of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals becomes a priority of the world, philanthropy has an opportunity to make an impact. This report from the Council on Foundations examines how U.S. funders can view their work in the global development framework and contribute to the success of the goals in the United States.

This report was published in conjunction with the SDG Philanthropy Platform and covers:

  • a series of nationwide convenings hosted by the Council and its partners to examine how U.S. foundations, businesses, and governments at all levels are already working toward the 17 Global Goals.
  • case studies, interviews, and examples of foundations utilizing the SDGs in their domestic grantmaking.
  • a checklist for philanthropy that provides practical actions funders can use to support and link their work to the SDGs.

This report is free to download, but a Council login is required.
