Ben McDearmon joined the Council as a Membership Specialist in 2014. His professional background has largely been in local and state government in Virginia. He spent time on the staff of a lobbying firm in Richmond and served from 2007 to 2009 as the Director of Projects at the City of Richmond’s Economic Development Authority, where he oversaw the daily operations of the Authority’s programs and managed its board relations. Immediately before coming to the Council, he worked at the British Embassy in Washington, DC. He has a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Richmond, where he was a four-year member of the crew team, as well as a J.D. from Washington & Lee University.
A resident of Washington, DC since 2012, Ben enjoys reading, studying history, and playing recreational sports, and he has a strong interest in architecture and urban design.
