2016 National Conference

September 26-28, 2016
Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile

Our biennial National Conference attracts more than 1,000 philanthropy professionals including:

New and experienced trustees and staff
Next generation philanthropists
Family foundation managers
Individual donors
Donor advised fund holders
Professional partners

GEO’s National Conference offers participants the opportunity to examine current challenges within the field, hear new ideas for smarter grantmaking practices that achieve better results, and engage in meaningful peer discussions. Bringing together participants representing a variety of roles within their organizations, this biennial conference includes thought-provoking speakers, interactive programming, special events and networking opportunities designed to help participants learn new strategies and share their experiences with others.

Join us for the premiere annual gathering of foundation leaders in the United States.

The Future of Community – Identity. Purpose. Place., will frame the three days we spend together sharing critical insights, engaging in realistic conversations, and realizing that the challenges we face also unite us. Every foundation is in some way concerned with the future of community. The strategic grants, investments, and collaborations of today inform the communities of tomorrow. The future of community is dependent on our shared leadership.

Please contact Dave Sheldon, Director of Programs and Public Policy, at dave@socalgrantmakers.org or (213) 680-8866 for additional information.

Take the Lead

This gathering is ideal for newly appointed member CEOs (less than 3 years in position) and member CEOs considering retiring and charged with succession planning. In an intimate setting, the CEO retreat provides participants an opportunity to learn from one another, share specific challenges, develop connections to colleagues, and discuss how to successfully steward an organization through what are, by definition, difficult transitions. The retreat will be intimate -- with informal networking time, carefully facilitated peer-to-peer engagement, relevant experts and honest conversation.
