Katherine La Beau

Katherine LaBeau serves as a Policy Director and Counsel for the Council. Her work focuses on federal tax policy and developments on Capitol Hill and within federal agencies that impact the philanthropic sector. Prior to joining the Council, she worked as a Presidential Management Fellow in the Executive Office of the President, Office of Management and Budget. She worked on the President’s Budget policy and federal regulations for the Department of Labor and related independent agencies. Most recently, she worked on labor, immigration, and tax policy as a legislative fellow for U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown. 

After college, Katherine volunteered as an AmeriCorps VISTA in Montana, where she ran a volunteer income tax preparation program for low-income taxpayers called Tax Help Montana. During her time in law school and graduate school, Katherine served as a research assistant through the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, and a legal research and writing assistant for the Lumina Foundation. She also interned with the General Counsel of the Corporation for National and Community Service. Katherine graduated magna cum laude with a J.D. and Master of Public Affairs from Indiana University. She is licensed to practice law in Illinois.

Katherine has a passion for animals and animal welfare, loves the combination of peanut butter and chocolate, and spends her free time exercising or socializing with friends in D.C.
