Joint Letter Published in the New York Times

On May 30, David Callahan, editor of Inside Philanthropy, published a short-sighted opinion piece on philanthropy in the New York Times. Given its reach, the Council believed that the piece warranted a strong and united response.

Working with our colleagues who understand the value of philanthropy, the Council's President & CEO Vikki Spruill co-wrote a letter to the editor with senior leaders from both United Way Worldwide and The Jewish Federations of North America. 

This morning, the New York Times published our letter, which we hope will set the record straight.
