2019 Public Policy Conference

The tumultuous events of the past year and the recent midterm elections have ushered in new challenges as well as a new crop of policymakers in California’s constantly shifting political landscape. With new developments taking place every day, it has become increasingly challenging to gauge what the future holds for California as a state and as a leader for the rest of the nation.

Presented in partnership with the California Budget & Policy Center, SCG’s Public Policy Conference is the preeminent convening in our region that brings together hundreds of your peers from the philanthropic and civic sectors to take an in-depth look at the latest policy analysis and research and to prepare for and address key issues impacting our work. At this conference, you will connect with peers and gain powerful ideas and tools to advance your work and lead meaningful change with partners in our sector and beyond.

The 2019 conference will hone in on the changing public policy landscape as a result of a new Governor and a wave of other new policymakers in Sacramento and Washington. We will put a special focus on early childhood, criminal justice reform, housing and homelessness and health care.

The day will be broken up into two parts: one portion will focus on Governor Gavin Newsom’s key emerging policy priorities, and the second portion will provide professional development skills supporting public policy and advocacy efforts that aim to better align policy choices with racial justice and equity. Join us for a day of candid conversations about our sector's role in changing systems and strengthening our communities.
