Philanthropy's Response to the Libya Flooding

Resources to Guide Philanthropic Response

Overview

Storm Daniel induced catastrophic flooding near northeast Libya, collapsing dams and sending water flowing into already inundated areas. Entire neighborhoods have been washed away, hospitals are no longer operable, and large parts of the region are inaccessible to emergency services. The floods resulted in nearly 3,900 deaths and 9,000 are believed to be missing- making this flood the second deadliest flood North Africa has seen in more than a century.

As updates about the impact of this flood are known and opportunities to support long-term recovery become available, this page will be updated with resources and information.
